One year down...100 more to go!

I don't even know what to type for this entry...other than this has been the best year of my life, or of our lives for that matter. There are absolutely no words to describe the past 365 days. God has truly blessed our marriage and, we are so grateful to call each other "best friend & spouse." May 29, 2010 is a date we will remember forever, ever, and...EVER. I can't believe a whole year has already flown by...wow. I'm going to leave you with a short and sweet little blog post this evening...one that pretty much sums it all up with, of course, a few laughs here and there.

Okay, so two sappies...

"I don't pretend to know what love is for everyone, but I can tell you what it is for me; love is knowing all about someone, and still wanting to be with them more than any other person, love is trusting them enough to tell them everything about yourself, including the things you might be ashamed of, love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you."

"The most wonderful of all things in life, I believe, is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has growing depth, beauty, and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing; it canot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life."

WE ARE BLESSED.

...and two funnies...

We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. ~Author Unknown

"It's so great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life." ~Rita Rudner

(Bahahahahahhahahahaha...story of our lives. He would second that one I'm sure! Love, love, love...wink)

Giovanni Herndon

January 15, 2011 = Welcoming our BEAUTIFUL adopted puppy, Giovanni "Gia" Herndon!

First of all, let me start off with an apology. Yes, an apology. I kid you not...I BEGGED...I repeat...BEGGED my sweet husband to get me a puppy for at least a solid year before my dreams of owning one actually came true. I mean, folks, there were even tears shed. I just KNEW Santa was bringing me a puppy being that it was our first Christmas and considering how long I had been begging...but he didn't. I cried. Yes, I cried...like a baby...like a 24-year-old baby. PATHETIC, I know, but you just don't understand! I have wanted a little Giovanni for the longest I tell ya'. Whelp, after all the pleading, begging, and crying...J finally agreed to get me a puppy in February. Even last fall when I would ask for a pup, he would say, "Meg, February...just wait until February." Yeah, well...I got what I was promised...and even a few days earlier than promised. Poor Josh...bless him. I absolutely drove him right to insanity a few times.

Want to know how I got my promise early? My sweet MOM! One Saturday while out having a girls' day, I asked her to just "go" to the Humane Society with me just to "look." We all know what it means when we go somewhere just to "look." I called Josh to meet us over there and promised we were just "looking," and his exact words were, "Greeeeeat. (complete sarcasm) I guess this means we are getting a dog today." I (for the 1,000th time) told him we were just going to "look."

I walked in...and........................oh. my. word. She had me from "hello." 45 minutes later...I was the proud owner of a new baby girl! J obviously knew he would be buying a pup because he brought exactly enough money with him before he left the house. ;) Our initial plan was to buy a registered Miniature Schnauzer because that is the breed I grew up with and loved, but my heart was being tugged by this place. I blame it on the commercials. I can tell you one thing...I will never get another dog without considering adopting one first. There were SO many pups waiting to be adopted. It was one of hardest things to watch...ever.

Gia has been the greatest blessing in our lives. I even settled for a larger breed...a much larger breed...a German Shepherd. Holy cow...little did I know that this sweet little pup would be on its way to gaining at least 75 more pounds. Our vet prepared me early...she told me Gia would at least be an 75-100 pound dog. Woooooooooooonderful.

I will be posting more pics, so you can watch her grow...but for now, take a look at our past 4 months together...

Entering: Michael + Andrea Gibson

Happy New Year! 2010
Biltmore Estate

Not many people are given the honor of calling one of your best friends...a sister. On November 6th, I became one of those lucky few. Before I go any further, let me take you back a few years. Andrea and I met at Mooreville High School. Those of you who know me well...know that I haven't always been a Mooreville Trooper. It wasn't until after my sophomore year of high school that I was given the opportunity to transfer from Tupelo to one of the BEST and SMALLEST towns in the state of Mississippi. Let me tell you...it was one of the BEST decisions I have ever made regarding my eduation. Not that I didn't or wouldn't miss my Tupelo friends...the friends I have known since I was a teeny weeny little thing with maybe one tooth in my mouth...IF that. (...and yes, believe it not, this 6' 1" shorty was once a teeny weeny little thing.)

You see...my brother, Michael, tranferred to Mooreville after his 8th grade year to play baseball for Rex Berryman. Little did I know (shortly after) I would be making a move myself. Anywho, moving to M-ville (schools--not houses) was never a decision Michael nor myself ever questioned. Michael went on to play his sports, while I sat on the sidelines or fence only to stare at his cute little baseball friends' butts. Ahhhhahahaha...don't tell Josh. (wink wink) I met some really incredible people along his sports journey, and I remember thinking on countless occasions that somehow, some way...I had to figure out a way to transfer to this incredible school, place, and home (because that is truly what it felt like). Michael ended up graduating and earning a full-paid scholarship to play football at Auburn University. Oh yes, he was quite the athlete...while I was good at...well...running my mouth. hehe

It wasn't until my SENIOR year that Andrea and I became so close. I guess I should say more like inseparable. We were instant best friends. We made some unforgettable memories during that year...a lot of tears, smiles, laughs, and late-night chats until the wee hours of the morning. Ya' know...they just doesn't get much better than that girl. She is definitely a "keeper" as Michael would say. Andrea (Cottongin) Gibson is such a  loving, genuine, and incredibly talented person. She would give the shirt off of her back to anyone no matter the circumstances. As cliche as that may sound...I encourage you (if you haven't already) to get to know this girl. God brought an angel into this world the day he made her. Wow...let me stop now before I waste yet ANOTHER Kleenex box over a blog post.

...and we all know how I feel about my brother, Michael. I can't even go there...I will not make it another sentence before snorting my way to the bathroom. Let me end this post with saying how truly blessed Josh and I are to call them both not just our  brother/sister...but two of our very best friends. We love you both, and we'll be here for you always.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from their wedding weekend (including a few engagement pics)...

"I want to dance with you..."

Whelp, this was one week that we will never forget...and boy was it busy! Having all of our Mississippi and Texas friends and family here with us celebrating this new chapter in our lives brought on an indescribable feeling. It meant so much having everyone here with us throughout the week. We are so lucky to have the best friends and family in the world. No, we are BLESSED.

Let me walk you through our busy wedding week. This will be great to revisit in the future which will only help me out even more when my future kiddos ask questions only to leave me with the realization that I am growing wrinkles and suffering from a bad case of memory loss. Thank Heaven for blogging. This really is a good hobby to have, eh? ;)

Josh and I worked almost up until the Friday before the wedding...literally. Those that know me well, know that I have to stay busy. Otherwise, I will hit the panic button...and quick. Look my name up in the Webster's and you will see the letters "O.C.D." plastered beside it. It's okay though because it keeps things interesting. ha (veeeeeeeeery interesting)

My Lovely Aunt Sue Ann and Uncle Marc, and their best friends, Jim and Cindy, drove over mid-week to help out with last minute wedding details. There are absolutely NO words to describe these people. Wow...let's just say we couldn't have done it without them. As they helped cover water bottles with labels, create cute decorative pieces for the kids' table, and box things up to take over to Park Heights, Lauren (my beautiful and incredibly talented cousin), worked herself to death at my house baking and icing cookies for the groom's table. We basically could have started a business this week...about nineteen of them. WORD. Those who have yet to begin wedding planning, bless you. Naw, really, it is such a fun experience, but if you are like me...the planning is not over until about an hour before the ceremony starts. That's just how we roll.

Now, for the remainder of this post, I'm going to let the pictures do all (majority) of the talking...

Flashing Back Before Flashing Forward 2006-2010

FLASHBACK CENTRAL: Right Here. Right NOW.

Okay, so let me begin with telling you just exactly how I met this little love bucket of mine. Are you ready? BLIND DATE. Oh yes ma'am! You may be thinking that's nothing out of the norm...so let me top that. As for the REAL question I know you have all been waiting for me to answer, what did we do on our first date? Ahh, a lovely little fourwheeler ride through a creek shooting snakes. I mean...does it get any better than that?

BEAT. THAT. BACHELOR.
(...even though I love that show.)

No, but in all seriousness, shooting snakes in a creek marked the beginning of the best days of my life. I do not know what I would do without this man. God blessed me with a lifetime of happiness as soon as he walked into my life on May 29, 2006.

Aren't we presh? God love us! HEEE he. Okay, enough with the ooshy gooshy, it's officially time for a flashback...FO' REAL.

Just for fun, I have decided to post a few pics from May 29, 2006 up until our wedding weekend. I'll save our wedding weekend for a blog of its own. It deserves it...I mean it WAS the best weekend of our lives thus far. So, there are albums galore catching dust in the top of our closet with pictures of every adventure we have taken from the day we first met, but unfortunately I am far too lazy to scan them, so below you will find a few of our favorites.

Yep, pretty sure I found my soulmate.

Hello World of Bloggers.

Hello there. First of all...T.G.I.F.

Okay, so we have officially joined the blogging society and have decided to start spreading all of our juicy life happenings to the rest of the world.

I have only ONE...problem. I'm not digging only being able to choose from five fonts to post my ever-so-amazing blogs. Get with it, people. I teach school here. We. Need. Fonts. Okay, now back to our grand entrance...(Attention Future Followers: Beware of Random Blogger)

As for the main reason for my starting this blog, whelp, I am tired of pretending that I am going to create a scrapbook of the past five years for my future kiddos to enjoy from the day my precious husband and I first met (May 29, 2006 <--Sorry, I had to.). In all seriousness, I would give anything in this world to have detail after detail of what life was like for my parents from dating until my brother, Michael, and I entered this world. So, needless to say, here we are.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we (or rather "I" if we are being honest...ha) plan to play the ultimate game of "catch-up!" I am going to travel back a few years and see if I cannot venture back into 2006 when I met my best friend and husband, Joshua Lane Herndon. (blushing) He is my little creampuff might I add...

Signing off for now...that is until I can figure out how to work this whole thing. I am a tad bit of a computer geek, so it shouldn't take long if I can learn how to balance my time between my obsession of watching Snooki, lesson plans, learning how to cook, stalking people on facebook, and well...living life.

Until next time, America...
I'll see ya' soon then. (Dear John is one my favs fa' sho.)
